    • In case of B.Tech. (CE, ECE, EE, CSE, ME) Programmes, the selection shall be based on the candidates performance in the JEE Main (Paper-I) 2017 and Normalized Score of the qualifying examination in the ratio of 60:40. However, in case a candidate is eligible for admission to a programme (PG Programmes only) because of an additional subject, marks obtained in the qualifying examination together with marks of additional subject shall be reduced to the base of 40% for determining the inter-se merit of such candidates.
    • Moreover, in case of MBA & MBA-IB programmes, 60% weightage is given to CMAT/ MAT/Institutional MAT of IUST score and 40% weightage is given to Group Discussion and Personal Interview (GDPI). Normalisation Procedure for Class XII Board Marks for Admission to B.Tech Engineering Programmes:

    The detailed procedure for Normalisation of Qualifying Examination marks for Admission to B.Tech Engineering Programmes (Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Mechanical Engineering) is as follows:-

    1. Note down the aggregate marks (A0) obtained by each student in JEE- Main (Paper-I) 2017.

    1. Compute the percentile (P) of each student on the basis of aggregate marks in his/her own board (B0) computed from the list of five subjects specified (each marked out of 100). The percentile is to be computed among all students of the board whose subject combinations meet the eligibility criteria of JEE-Main. The variable B0 is only a base for calculating percentile (P), which is further used to get corresponding JEE Main (Paper-I) marks.

    • Determine the JEE- Main aggregate marks corresponding to percentile (P) among the all applicants. Regard this as Bfinal.

    For the purpose of admission to B.Tech. Civil, ECE, EE , CSE and ME Programmes, the University has decided to use the JEE Mains performance and the Normalized Board performance in the 60:40 ratio, the composite score for drawing the merit list is to be computed as:

    C = 0.6 * AO + 0.4 * Bfinal

    For the purpose of admission to B.Tech (CE, ECE, EE, CSE and ME) Programmes, the five subjects to be used for normalisation are as under:

    B.Tech. Civil, ECE, EE, CSE and ME Programmes:

    • Physics
    • Mathematics
    • Chemistry
    • English
    • Best one subject other than the above four subjects

    For admission to B.Tech. Food Technology Programme, the five subjects to be used for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40:

    • Physics
    • Chemistry
    • Best one subject from Biology / Mathematics in case of candidates having six subjects. However, this shall not be applicable to candidates having five subjects. For those, all the five subjects shall be considered for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40.
    • English
    • Best one subject other than the above four subjects in case of candidates having six subjects.

    For admission to BBA Programme, the five subjects to be used for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40:

    • English
    • Best four subjects other than the above subject

    For admission to B.Sc. Actuarial & Financial Mathematics Programme, the five subjects to be used for calculating qualifying examination points reduced to the base of 40:

    • English
    • Mathematics / Statistics
    • Best two subjects other than the above three subjects
    • Best three subjects in case only one among Mathematics / Statistics is present.

    The procedure for calculating normalized score for MBA and MBA-IB programmes shall be:

    Let C = { x1, x2, x3,…….xn} is the CMAT score of n applicants and let M = {y1, y2, y3,…..ym } be the IUST-MAT or MAT score of the m applicants Calculate the percent rank of all the IUST-MAT / MAT applicants.

    1. Calculated the percent rank of all the IUST-MAT/MAT applicant

    Pr = { pr1, pr2, pr3,……prm}

    Where prk = percentrank.inc ( M, yk, s)

        M is array of IUST-MAT/ MAT score, yk is score of kth student in IUST-MAT/ MAT, and s is the significance (e.g., upto 4 decimals).

    1. Now Nc = { nc1, nc2, nc3, ……., ncm }

    Where ncK  = percentile.inc ( C,prk)

    Where C is score array of CMAT applicants, prk is the percent rank of kth student.

    1. Normalized CMAT score will be calculated using

    Cn = C U Nc  ( union of two array or sets)

    1. Total score will be calculated as:

    Sn = Cn * 60 / 400 + GDPI

    The above preferred scheme shall give benefit to majority of the applicants to apply at IUST.

    Resolution of Tie:

    In case of two or more candidates having secured equal points/merit for admission to a particular programme, the inter-se merit shall be determined in order of preference as follows:
